Last reviewed: 24 August 2026

Definition

Private Credit Market Leaders are major private-credit managers evaluated at platform level across investment performance, strategy breadth, origination, underwriting, portfolio management, investor alignment and franchise resilience.

Overview

This category is broader than a single lending strategy. Leading firms may operate direct lending, opportunistic, asset-based, real-estate and infrastructure credit businesses. Assets under management indicate scale but do not by themselves demonstrate underwriting quality, liquidity preparedness, workout capability or performance across cycles.

  3. Underwriting: test cash flow, collateral, structure, documentation and downside recovery.
