Specialty Hospitals are hospitals whose principal mission and resources focus on one or a limited group of specialties, such as cardiac, oncology, orthopaedic, psychiatric, paediatric or rehabilitation care.
Overview
Concentration can support expertise, volume and coordinated pathways, but the institution must still manage comorbidities, emergencies and transfers beyond its scope. Comparisons should adjust for case complexity and referral patterns. A specialty label does not by itself establish superior outcomes or comprehensive capability.
