Definition

Structured Credit & Capital Markets is a private-credit category covering structured loans, asset-backed finance, securitized or tranched exposures and capital-markets solutions arranged outside conventional broadly syndicated lending.

Overview

Structures may finance receivables, specialty assets, funds, real estate or corporate portfolios. Analysis requires both asset-level performance and the legal waterfall governing payment allocation. Credit enhancement can redistribute risk but does not eliminate dependence on data, servicing, documentation and stress assumptions.

  3. Underwriting: test cash flow, collateral, structure, documentation and downside recovery.
