Obesity Drugs Fuel a Market Before and After Weight Loss, as Supplements, Body Contouring and Drug Development Evolve

The boom in obesity drugs is reshaping spending across related markets, from vitamins and supplements to cosmetic procedures. As medication reduces food intake, consumers are buying more supplements to fill nutritional gaps, followed by spending to manage muscle loss and sagging skin after weight loss. Demand for protein products in particular has pushed up prices for whey protein, a key ingredient, prompting manufacturers to expand production facilities. As new markets emerge around the weight-loss process and subsequent care, pharmaceutical companies are also focusing on developing drugs that target both weight reduction and muscle preservation. Clinical trials are also underway to maintain weight loss with oral drugs or extend injection intervals to ease the burden of long-term treatment.
